LOLLAPALOOZA OF YEARS PAST

With this being the weekend of Lollapalooza happing in good ol' Chi-city, let's all think back to 1991 when the Perry Farrell brainchild was still a touring act, rocking amphitheaters and the like throughout North America. A time when you would go see a corn starch covered Trent Reznor playing Now I'm Nothing into Terrible Lie to start out what would be a high-energy tour de force of a show. Yeah, good stuff. You know if you watched a video of that on YouTube right now, you'd also see recent guest of the podcast, Richard Patrick (the PIGGY!) featured rocking out.

MET ILAN RUBIN LAST NIGHT, COOL DUDE

Leaving the Capitol Hill Block Party in Seattle last night, I had the awesome luck of meeting Ilan Rubin and struck up a conversation for a few minutes. I was bummed that I had to split my time between The New Regime and Chvrches, but when was the last time you went to a festival and didn't have two (or three!) acts playing at the same time and you have to make the decision to miss one or to miss parts of the ones you want to see. The world is unjust. However, Ilan is super chill.

WHAT ARE YOU DOING [THIS WEEKEND]?

I can certainly tell you what Alex and Danny Boy of THROW IT AWAY will be up to [and what you should be doing if you're in the PNW]!

We'll be tearing it up, listening to some tunes and having an all around great time at the Capitol Hill Block Party in Seattle. Now that I think about it, this will be the first time we've seen each other face to face since November 2013 when we saw NIN in Las Vegas.

Should be a good time. Stay tuned for episode 26, Johnny is just putting the final touches on it as you read this.

PODCAST RECOMMENDATION DU JOUR: JOSH WHO FREESE

In what will hopefully be considered part one of six, check out the Hour of Goon's episode with Josh Freese. Listen in for Jeordie and Josh talking about watching Van Halen for hours on loops while blasting smoke machines on tour with A Perfect Circle. Find out about the day the earth slip open and the sky turned red after watching a certain ZZ Top video and how Josh was the inspiration for Kickstarter.

PODCAST RECOMMENDATION DU JOUR: BO ON IIWY

This is really a two part recommendation: one part podcast rec, one part comedy special rec. So whichever way you want to consume it is fine, whether you want to listen to the podcast, then watch the special or vice versa, but you will want to do both.

Check out Bo Burnham's new special Make Happy, and then listen to him on Jake and Amir's If I Were You podcast.

HAPPY CANADA & AMERICA DAYS
